Venus View - Nine is Fine

The world today has become a culture of “multi taskers,” which means that playing 18 holes of golf is asking a lot from both men and women in today’s age. To give you an idea what I am talking about let’s compare the time it takes to play 9 holes to the time it takes to watch a full-length feature movie. A typical movie takes anywhere from 2 to 3 hours to watch. A typical round of nine holes also takes anywhere from 2 to 3 hours.

Years ago, double features were considered the norm, and people spent all day in a movie theater enjoying two shows, which would take from 4 to 5 hours to watch. Today, you rarely see anyone taking in a double feature because few people are willing to sacrifice that much precious time!

Playing a full round of 18 holes can take from 4 to 5 hours to play depending on where and whom you are playing with. This is far too much time today for the average man or women who has to juggle kids, family, a full time job and other commitments.

It is an absolute no brainier that both men and women need to start looking at 9 holes of golf as an acceptable choice or option. 18 holes of golf takes a lot of time, period.

Golf facilities need to market to nine holers more creatively if we are to grow the game. I have heard a lot of debate and dialogue about making 9-hole golf more popular, yet I have not personally seen any aggressive marketing by the golf facilities. If the movie industry can make such a drastic change, then the golf industry can do the same!

Any golfer who wants to play nine holes should be supported, encouraged, and welcomed. Venus says we start a positive campaign now and change an industry that is in need of an attitude adjustment. The new motto is, Nine is fine!
